4/26 TNA Impact review

I haven’t watch or record TNA Impact for several months and the reason is that I want to see Sting wrestle on television. That’s when I record it to
cherish it. This edition delivered many matches with 2 involving Sting. We have Sting vs Kurt Angle that serves as a preview sample of what it would really look like between the two at a TNA PPV. Then, we have Scott Steiner & Tomko battling Team 3-D for the World Tag Team titles with the LAX’s
involvement. Plus you have the X-Division mixed tag team match. There was tension among the Christian Coalition on one hand and there was tension between Sting and Kurt Angle on the other hand. If only TNA has 2 hours to showcase their stars and stories. You can only fit in so far in
1-hour. They mentioned Jim Cornette several times, but he hasn’t appeared on the show (because of Ring of Honor). However, I liked the end where Sting used the bat to hit Kurt Angle with it. He was really ticked off and this could lead to the 3-way battle for the NWA World title. Solid TNA
Impact.

Legion of Superheroes – Sundown Pt. 1 review

The first part of the two-part season finale starts with Legion of Superheroes fighting the Fatal 5, who have been kicking their butts this time but
that can only happen in a simulation scenario. Good way to tease it off. 1st half of the episode focuses Bouncing Boys trials as newly-elected leader of the Legion of Superheroes and he’s getting the hang of it in the second half. Triplicate Girl seems to be rising up the ranks through Bouncing Boy’s leadership.

The Legion finds out that with their collective might and resources, they deal with a menace that they can’t defeat in the Sun-Eater. There is a connection between Sun-Eater and the Great Crisis. I hope they reveal the Great Crisis later in the series.

Superman knows that his powers don’t work under the Red Run and Brainiac is honest with him this time. So they got him a special suit to protect him from the Red Run. It’s a cool-looking suit.

The tension between the Founders of the Legion still continues from the last episode. Cosmic Boy is used to being a leader, not a follower.

The person who is bearing the burden the most is Ferro Lad, who fails to take down the Sun-Eater and this will haunt him throughout the next part of Sundown.

Great episode and tribute to the classic Legion of Superheroes story.

Smallville – Nemesis review

This week’s episode focuses on the relationship between Clark Kent and Lex Luthor as to why their friendship had dissolved. It was because a lackof trust and honesty with each other. Their true feelings for each other have really came out. Clark has told Lex that Lana went to see him before the wedding and later on, Lex confronted Lana about it. This episode would’ve been a perfect opportunity to seal Lex’s fate as Clark’s arch nemesis. This lack of trust and honesty between Clark and Lex also resonates between Clark and Lana but on a different level because of his secrets.

Speaking of Lana, her character has taken a dark turn since hooking up with Lex and as a Luthor, she is just as manipulative, shrewd, and deadly as they are but in a good way because of her feelings for Clark, which is what prevents from going to the dark side completely. Her confrontations with Lionel were picking up where they left off from the wedding episode. Then later on, we found out that Lana knew about the tunnels and plans to have Lex die there. Could Lana have orchestrated this whole thing herself? Both Clark and Chloe are starting to see her in a new light. One may never know if Lana’s dark turn has united or divided the Lana fans.

Chloe Sullivan has been very bitter about Lex from last week’s episode and also wants Lex dead as much as Lana. As a true friend as usual, she tells Clark about Lana’s motivations.

Martha has feelings for Lionel and I’m glad she doesn’t fully trusts him later on. I’m also glad that she’s there to give Clark advices that is really her purpose in the series, not Chloe’s.

Lionel’s plans have started to reveal themselves as to protect Clark from Lana because I think that Lionel believes Lana is holding Clark back from his destiny. Also, we’ve seen him and Lex talk interact for the first time since the wedding episode as Lionel knows about Lex’s latest project.

Last week, Clark declares that the war between he and Lex is on. This week, he saw something in Lex he hasn’t seen in a long time – a friend.
The writers need to make up their minds on where Clark stands about Lex.

We find out through Lana that there was a video involving a phantom zoner. This is disturbing because it has occurred late in the season. If
the season is about the Rise of Lex Luthor, wouldn’t Lex pursue the Phantoms in addition to his Level 33.1 projects? This tells me that this
season has not been well-thought out.

The end of the episode reveals Lex’s evil project, Project Ares.

Not a bad episode for the triangle although I wish they would get over with this thing already.

Smallville – Journey or Destination?

Smallville is about Clark Kent’s journey towards becoming Superman. People say that the journey is important, but so is the destination. If the series doesn’t pay off in the end, the journey is all pointless and doesn’t mean anything without the destination. There has to be a goal of the main
character and the series. The goal of the main character Clark Kent is to embrace his destiny and become Superman and the goal of the series is to become the Superman mythos (Lex Luthor as
Superman’s arch-nemesis and run LexCorp, Lois Lane being the reporter of the Daily Planet, Jimmy
Olsen being the photographer of the Daily Planet, and Lana Lang being in his past.) Without a goal, the series is pointless and meaningless. The journey is important when there is a destination
in the end. Without a destination, the journey is lost and wasted. I don’t want to see Clark being
lost and aimless.

Tom Welling Signs On For 8 Seasons of Smallville!!

The biggest news coming from the Jules Verne event in France was that the producers announced
that Tom Welling, who plays young Superman Clark Kent, actually signed on for eight seasons. This is what most of us, including myself, have suspected for some time. I can do Smallville without Lex Luthor, Lana Lang, and even Chloe Sullivan. There are many ways to go about this – have Clark
train at the Fortress of Solitude, return to college to pursue journalism on his own this time, travel
around the world, battle other DC villains, and meet other DC heroes. However, the disappointment
out of this is that there will be no suit for Clark at the end of the series. If that’s the case, then I
wonder how Clark could fulfill his destiny when he doesn’t wear the suit. That’s the true payoff or
otherwise, the entire series and journey would be all pointless. Also, they can introduce Clark’s
2nd love in college named Lori Lemaris who knows everything about him through her telepathy and
she understands what he’s going through better than Lana Lang. I predict that the next two seasons will see Clark and Lois going their separate ways as Lois gets hired at the Daily Planet
while pairing up with Jimmy Olsen. Here’s to two more years of Smallville, which may hold the record as the longest Superman TV series of all time surpassing The Adventures of Superman.

Smallville – Progeny Review

After a month of hiatus, we have a new episode guest-starring Wonder Woman Lynda Carter who plays Chloe’s mother. Here are my thoughts on last night’s episode:

-The relationship between Clark and Chloe in this episode is very interesting – Clark is using his brains and Chloe being more emotional.

-The pregnancy story is a waste of screentime because Lana finds out that she was never pregnant. What was the whole point of the pregnancy if there was no pay-off? There are more important storylines to deal with in this season.

-Speaking of Lana, she meets Clark since the wedding and Clark asked her about why she married Lex. What does she do? She brushes him off once again. Lana is the least popular character and this relationship was doomed from the start. Why milk it up for 6 years?

-Chloe can sure kick @ss and she must’ve learned from her famous cousin.

-Lynda Carter still looks wonderful for her age and I hope she returns in the next season.

-Martha only made a cameo in this episode and that’s to get the Kryptonite off of Clark.

-Lex and Chloe confronted each other 3 times with Lex in the end threatening her if she publishes the article. Later, Chloe tells Clark about their
confrontation. Clark declares that the war between he and Lex has begun. The difference between Chloe and Lana is that Chloe is the more
honest and trustworthy of the two.

-It’s interesting to note about Clark’s relationships with Chloe and Lana. Chloe tells Clark about her confrontation with Lex on one hand, but on
the other hand Lana doesn’t tell Clark about Lionel’s threat that caused her to marry Lex.

Solid episode

What Will Happen Towards Smallville’s 6th Season Ender!!!

5 more episodes of Smallville to air starting tomorrow with Progeny, guest-starring Wonder Woman Lynda Carter, who plays Chloe’s mother Moira.  Chloe’s childhood flashback will be revealed as well as her confrontation with Lex Luthor. Then, we have the Prototype episode where a experimented superhuman escapes from the labs and Lois plays heavily in this episode. Next, we have Nemesis where an explosion traps Clark and Lex in the cave and Lionel is injured. We’ll find out if Clark and Lex’s friendship will be repaired or destroyed forever. Lana confronts Lionel and displays her dark side. Then, we head to Noir where Lana gets shot after her meeting with Lionel and Jimmy dreams of a 1940’s Smallville as a nod to the Golden-Age Superman stories. Unfortunately, this is where Aaron Ashmore departs in this episode for now. Finally, the big one called Phantom aka the season finale. There is a lot of buzz surrounding the season finale as to who will die for real and it’s one of the main four (Clark Kent, Lex Luthor, Lana Lang, and Chloe Sullivan). Personally, I don’t know why Clark and Lex are in that list considering their futures, but it really leaves Lana and Chloe. Then, there was the leaked script that was roaming around and Allison Mack herself confirmed that it is the final draft. If this is true, we may have a pretty good idea as to who will eat it in the end and it’s going to make most fans, including myself, happy. After the last 5 episodes of the 6th season airs, I will do a lookback review on Season 6.

Farewell To Another KISS Member

Mark St. John, the third KISS guitarist in 1984 who replaced Vinnie Vincent for the album, Animalize
has passed away yesterday with the brain hemorrhage. He was the only member of KISS who appeared for the shortest time because of the Reiter’s Syndrome and was replaced by Bruce Kulick.
Mark St. John has become the second KISS member to pass on; the first was Eric Carr who passed
away back in 1991. We celebrate his memory by listening to a great KISS album, Animalize, and the song in particular Heaven’s On Fire. Thanks for the great KISS album, Mark St. John. You will be greatly missed by the KISS members and the KISS Army.
