Don Cornelius, founder of the music TV show Soul Train, has died of an apparent suicide. He was 75. He helped African-American music artists break through to the mainstream with his show, Soul Train, the equivalent of Dick Clark’s American Bandstand. Among them was the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. I used to watch Soul Train when I was little where I was exposed to funk and r & b music. Cornelius was among the top figures in the music industry for the last 40 years and ranks up there with Motown founder, Berry Gordy. He will be missed by his family, friends, and the music business community worldwide.
