Record producer, manager, and musician Kim Fowley has passed away at the age of 75 due to bladder cancer. Fowley is best known for managing the first all-female rock group called The Runaways that featured Joan Jett and Lita Ford as well as getting John Lennon to perform at the Rock N Roll Revival in 1969. He was described as one of the most colorful characters of rock n roll, his fashion tastes were unique. During the Runaways, he produced their albums but the band members wrote and played their own songs. Together they changed the world when they opened doors for other female groups such as the Go-Go’s and Bangles. However, their relationship was rocky and it led to the parting of the ways in 1977. In the last few years, both Cherie Currie and Lita Ford have reconciled with Fowley as he was battling cancer, despite their legal battles. Last September, he was married to music executive Kara Wright until his passing. His contributions to rock n roll are cemented and will be missed by all.
