TV acting legend Dick Van Patten passed away at the age of 86 due to complications from diabetes. Started out as a child actor appearing in numerous Broadway shows, he was a staple in television almost since its beginning as he appeared in numerous shows such as Mama, Sanford and Son, Arrested Development, Streets of San Francisco, and Happy Days. But it was the show called Eight Is Enough that launched his stardom and portrayed Tom Bradford from 1977-81. It was his warmth and generosity that captured millions of viewers. He would go on to appear in films such as Space Balls, Robin Hood: Men In Tights, and High Anxiety. Did several projects with Weird Al Yankovic on the Nirvana parody video, Smells Like Nirvana, and Bedrock Anthem as well as appearing on the Weird Al Show. Van Patten will be missed by the show business community worldwide.
