Star Wars Rebels – The Lost Commanders season premiere review

After dealing with Darth Vader, Ahsoka Tano sends the Rebels to search for her old clone friends, particularly Rex, whom she gushes over and Kanan is not impressed at all. Upon finding them, he was right as they were the clones who fought alongside her. It’s a good thing Kanan didn’t trust them just because Ahsoka told them to and why should he considering that the Jedi were betrayed and killed by the very clones they fought alongside with, including his old master.

Glad that Kanan opened up to Ezra about Order 66 and Ezra is stepping up to be a leader. Sabine is also being proactive as well. The bulk of the episode saw Zeb being used as bait and being swallowed by a monster.

Kanan’s distrust of the clones was right when he discovers that one of the clones sent a distress signal to the Empire. Not only did Rex not know of this, but he also didn’t receive any messages from Ahsoka as well. This was due to one of the other clones being paranoid. Agent Kallus is showing his leadership and competence without Darth Vader.

I didn’t expect this to be a two-parter in the end, but I think it’s a good change of pace because they need to freshen storylines in 22 episodes without trying to drag it out. A great followup to Siege of Lothal and a good start to the season.
