Living For The Future

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen review

Here we are, the sequel to the first Transformers movie that takes place two years later with the Autobots and human soldiers fighting against the Decepticons while Sam Witwicky is going to college and trying to maintain his relationship with Mikaela. With all this going on, the main plot has to do with the Cybertronian symbols inside Sam’s head thanks to the Allspark fragment while the Decepticons use another Allspark fragment to revvie Megatron who answers to the Fallen. The Fallen was once a member of the Primes until he betrayed them and planned to rule the universe. With all that comes new Autobots, Decepticons, and humans involved in the complex story that outdoes the first. It’s batter Transformers movie than the first.

The problems with the first Transformers movie have been addressed in this movie where the Transformers are the emphasis and not the humans. The only human that should be emphasized is Sam himself. We are introduced to new human characters that serve a purpose better than the human characters from the first movie. However, some of the new characters have become increasingly annoying throughout the film such as Sam’s mother and his roommate.

I enjoyed the camaraderie of the characters in the middle of the film when they and some of the Transformers were searching for the Matrix and it’s probably my favorite part of the film in addition to Optimus Prime taking on the Decepticons
twice by himself. It was awesome when he was upgraded with the remains of Jetfire to take on both Megatron and the Fallen.

The action in the film is ten times better than the one in the first film and the Transformers were emphasized. However, in the climax it seems that the military have been emphasized whcih was rather unnecessary. The human military should know that only the Autobots can defeat the Decepticons. The special effects have topped the ones from the first movie.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has become this year’s Dark Knight because it has grossed $200 million in the first 5 days so this basically blows Star Trek out of the water to become the top film of this year. I’ve accomplished my goal in watching both this and Star Trek. Much, much better than the first film.
