Living For The Future

The Flash – Magenta review

After the two-part premiere about Flashpoint, we have the return of Earth-2’s Harrison Wells and his daughter, Jesse Quick, who has super-speed. Wells is hoping for Barry Allen and Caitlin Snow to try to talk her out of the idea of being a superhero while Wally West feels disappointed about not having super-speed yet. There was plenty of family drama, but this thing with Barry and Iris going out on a couple of dates that doesn’t even last a minute renders their relationship to be completely pointless. Last season, Barry went out on a date with Patty Spivot that last a lot longer. After doing a great job with Iris last season, they regressed her back to season 1 levels.

There were a couple of family dramas and some things have come out of nowhere. Since when did Wally want powers? We know he liked speed racing, but there was no indication that he wanted powers. This was out of left field. Then we have Caitlin, who decides to hide her powers. Problem with this is that we’ve seen this with Cisqo in the first two season, so why do we want a repeat with Caitlin? She needs to experience this on her own way that would distinguish her apart from Cisqo.

Magenta comes across as a gothic chick with daddy issues and tries to kill him with her powers. Barry for once uses reason instead of his powers that actually works. I like seeing Barry and Jesse working together. To me they are like Superman and Supergirl and this was like they were cashing in on their team-up. Jesse gets a costume, but she doesn’t try it on until the next episode. However it looks good and it’s actually a retread of Tangent’s costume from last season.

An okay episode at best here as I look forward to the next episode.
