Farewell Bruno Sammartino 1935-2018

Wrestling legend Bruno Sammartino has passed away at the age of 82. Born in Italy, he immigrated to America during the time of World War 2. A strong man himself, he caught the eye of Vince J. McMahon and became the World Wide Wrestling Federation Champion by defeating Buddy Rogers and held on to that title for 8 years straight until he was defeated by Ivan Koloff. His second reign would last 3 years. Bruno also engaged in a heated feud against Larry Zbysczko in 1980 that drew great attendance records. He also did announcing for the World Wrestling Federation with Vince K. McMahon and mentored his son, David, who was became a wrestler in his own right. Sammartino was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by Arnold Schwarzenegger in Madison Square Garden, where he would headline there for the final time. His legacy in the wrestling business is cemented forever and he will be missed by the pro wrestling community worldwide.
