The Flash – A Girl Named Sue review

Last season ended with a twist where the Iris that Barry is dealing with is not the real one, but rather the dark one from the Mirrorverse. The real Iris is in the Mirrorverse with the missing Eva McCulloch who was thought dead, but was actually missing for 6 years as she was stuck in the Mirrorverse. They can see the real world from the Mirrorverse, but they can’t see in. That was why Barry didn’t notice.

The bulk of this episode was mainly about Elongated Man Ralph Dibny meeting his future wife, Sue Dearbon, played by Natalie Dreyfuss, niece of actor Richard Dreyfuss. I have to say Ralph is a lucky man when he eventually marries her down the line. He takes on a case to bring Sue home, but Sue goes off an adventure involving the diamonds. Apparently things are not what they seemed and Ralph has been setup from the getgo. Sue is giving Catwoman Selina Kyle a run for her money. We also learn that Sue works for local crime boss, Jean Loring, who happens to be the future wife of Atom Ray Palmer from the comics. I have e feeling that either Sue will be a series regular or Ralph could leave for another series with Sue, perhaps in Legends.

The other storyline shows Nash Wells continuing to be haunted by the ghost of Earth-2 Harrison Wells. I don’t know how they will bring him or Jesse Quick back as we learn that they did not survive the Crisis back in Arrow. While all this is nice, it also highlights the main problem – they don’t know what to do with Barry Allen in the post-Crisis world.

It seems that in the last 5 seasons, Barry’s story ties in with the Crisis in the form of the headline that says he vanished. Since Crisis, it didn’t turn out the way they hoped because Earth-90 Flash took his place and there was no Reverse-Flash. They’re writing around him as a way to cover up their problems. Unless this is addressed and fixed down the line, it’s not going to get better for its leading character.

Good episode for the future Sue Dibny.
