Living For The Future

Kung-Fu – Guidance review

After a brief hiatus on the first half of the first season, we kick off the second half with revelations concerning why Zhilan did what she did in the pilot where she killed Pei-Ling. It’s revealed that Zhilan is the younger sister of Pei-Ling, who killed their father that caused a family rift forever thus seeing Pei-Ling taking the sword. This is what lead to Zhilan getting her revenge in the pilot and now Nicky starts to question the ghost-vision of Pei Ling concerning the revelations. I don’t blame Nicky for being angry at all of this.

As Nicky recovers at Evan’s behest, she gets invited to a series of trials from Master Drake who profits from illegal fighting. Though it appears Nicky was on the ropes again after the last episode, there was nothing like humiliation especially in front of Drake’s own students. Meanwhile, Zhilan discovers more revelations that her uncle secretly received money to raise Pei-Ling all along while she revealed what she did in the pilot as well as forcing him about the ancient text’s whereabout. An alliance with a powerful Taiwanese family was forged.

It’s revealed that Nicky’s mother and Henry have been secretly watched her fight with Drake and her fate to reclaim the jade sword is sealed thus making a rematch with Zhilan more personal than ever. A lot has moved forward in this one. It’s a great start to the second half of the season.
