Wrestling referee Dave Hebner passed away at the age of 73 from an undisclosed illness. He is the twin brother of Earl Hebner and uncle of Brian Hebner, who are also referees. Dave has refereed for most promotions most notably in WWE where he retired due to knee replacement and became a road agent until he was released from WWE in 2005. During his time in WWE, he was involved in the infamous angle involving his twin brother Earl after Hulk Hogan lost the WWE title to Andre The Giant in a controversial fashion.
After WWE, he made appearances in TNA and was involved with MMMA wrestling for 10 years from 2012 to this year likely until his passing. Dave and Earl were involved in a class-action lawsuit against WWE that was dismissed. He was also suffering from Parkinson’s Disease.
Dave Hebner refereed many great matches, most notable Randy Savage and Ricky Steamboat from WrestleMania 3. His contributions to the wrestling business is cemented and he will be missed by all.
