Farewell Robert Butler 1927-2023

Legendary movie and television director Robert Butler has passed away at the age of 95. His career in film and TV has spanned for over 50 years. Butler has directed Star Trek, Batman ‘66, Hill Street Blues, Lois and Clark, and Hogan’s Heroes. On the film side, he directed movies such as Barefoot Executive, Now You See Him Now You Don’t, and Scandalous John. Butler has won many Emmy awards and joined the Directors Guild of America, where he served on its board for 11 consecutive terms.

Recently he worked with the Roddenberry Archive about the restoration and preservation of the original Star Trek pilot The Cage. He is survived by his wife, two children, and two grandchildren. Robert Butler’s contributions to the film and TV industry are cemented and he will be missed by all.
