Living For The Future

Response To The Smallville Reports

Based on the reports that I read about the Smallville producers’ appearance at a convention, I’ll post my statements in
response to the information they gave about the future of Smallville:

-They can’t use Batman and Wonder Woman because of movie rights, but they may use other heroes. Because of the
success of the Justice League episode, the producers should follow this trend to expand and recruit more heroes to
form the Justice League against Lex Luthor and his schemes. As for Batman and Wonder Woman, this I would have to
agree because I don’t believe that the cornerstones of the DC Universe should meet until their later years. At least,
I’m glad to hear that Martian Manhunter will be an ongoing presence for Clark.

-Clark may be split into two people in the season finale. Now here’s a season finale that I have been psychically predicting because I had this vision where Clark and Kal-El would split and battle each other. But one thing that doesn’t make sense: if they can’t fight because of budget reasons, then explain the superfight between Clark and Lex/ Zod. If
the no tights/ no flights applies to Clark, then it shouldn’t apply to Kal-El because we’ve seen him fly. Now let’s put him
in a pre-Superman suit with the Kryptonian S.

-We may have Supergirl in Smallville. I hope it’s not Kara Zor-El because she and Kal-El shouldn’t meet until his adult years so if they do bring in Supergirl, it should be Kara/ Lindsay. Raya is already gone in the episode Fallout.

-Clark and Lois was only a teaser. If that’s the case, then the producers and writers are wasting their time with these
pointless teases that will only happen in the future, not during Smallville. As much as I like Erica Durance’s Lois, she
should move to Metropolis and stay there while working as a reporter for the Inquisator, not staying in the Talon’s
apartment in Smallville. There’s really no need for her to stay in Smallville once she realizes that Chloe is safe.

-They’re thinking about bringing Pete Ross back. They better do it now because it was pointless to remove him during
the 3rd season and bring in another made-for-tv character who served no purpose in Clark’s journey. A lot more can
be done with Pete if the producers & writers read the comics.

-Lex and Lana get married. This could cause Clark to embrace his destiny to become the world’s greatest superhero and
protect the world over one person’s needs like Lana Lang. I’ve also heard that Clark will not have a backbone whatever
that means. If they’re talking him not having another relationship, I’ll live with that as long as they show his journey
 towards becoming Superman.

-No Green Arrow or Justice League spin-off. The spin-offs should happen after Smallville ends, not during its reign. We’ve
already seen the producers attempt this twice with little to no results. Neither Birds of Prey or Mercy Reef were able
to duplicate Smallville’s success. As for CW Network not having appetite for superheroes, big mistake because Heroes
is doing incredibly well and the network has failed to see this.

-Tom Welling will NOT wear the Superman suit. We’ve already known from the beginning that the show has the no tights
no flights rule, but they already broken the flight rule when Clark was flying under the influence. I understand that he
will not wear the suit DURING the course of the series, but my main concern is that when the series ends and it doesn’t
have him wearing the suit and fly off, then the series will be pointless from the start. As I’ve said in my previous blog
there needs to be a huge payoff from Clark’s journey. This movie franchise restriction rule doesn’t cut it because the
TV show was responsible for reigniting the Superman franchise. If it wasn’t for Smallville, Superman Returns would not
happen. They say the journey is important, but so is the payoff. If there is no payoff, then the journey is pointless and that’s what I’m concerned about with Smallville. There is room for everyone because we have Smallville,
Legion of Superheroes, and the new Superman movies. If the movie franchise restriction were to be true, there would
not be a Legion cartoon right now would there.

-They have 2 more seasons left in them. That could be a problem because most of the cast are signed on for seven
years or seven seasons. Tom, Michael, and Kristin want to move on to other things, including movies. Shows like this
usually last for 7 seasons so it’s best if Smallville last for only 7 seasons not more than that.

That’s my response to the convention reports. Hopefully, the producers will change their minds about certain things.
