Smallville Roulette review

Roulette is the Oliver-centric episode and you don’t need screentimes to guess that. It focused on him getting back on his feet as the hero himself, Green Arrow. 

So much was unnecessary for this episode and certain characters were not needed as well. 

The episode sums up the problem involving Clark in an episode’s main storylines. He really did nothing, except for saving someone from a criminal. We didn’t see Clark talk to Jor-El in the Fortress nor we didn’t see him knowing the Kandorians all over the Earth and it would’ve been nice if they show his reaction to it. The scene involving he and Lois concerning the events of Echo were unnecessary and it wasn’t Clark’s place to tell Lois all this. It could have been used in Echo, along with the endscene between Lois and Oliver. 

There really was no reason for Lois to be in this episode and this movie-watching scene at the Kent Farm was placed there for the sake of being there. Why does Lois need to wash her clothes at the Kent Farm when there could be laundry places near the Talon? Her sudden involvement with Roulette and the plot shows how extraneous she is.

The characters of both Chloe and Oliver have been distorted and destroyed. Why do we need another life-altering episode for Oliver when Toxic has already showed us this? So much was wasted on something that had nothing to do with the main storylines of the season. I find it hard to believe Chloe could have orchestrated something this grand and gambling on both the lives of Oliver and Lois. She came across as cold, arrogant, and manipulative and if this is how Chloe is going to be this season, then the events of last season have definitely changed her. If I were Clark and Dr. Hamilton, I’d keep an eye on her. 

Good episode for Oliver, but not a good one for Clark. The producers revealed that it was irrelevant, so why waste on episode on this when you could have spent more on Clark discovering and searching for the Kandorians? I’m betting on Crossfire to pick things up since it’s going to be the start of November Sweeps.
