Young Justice Invasion – The Hunt review

After Blue Beetle’s betrayal and Nightwing discovering the truth, Lex Luthor sends the runaways to rescue the team and they meet Arsenal who was still on the run from the Reach. Their teamwork gelled immediately when they took on the Black Beetle, even though they had little to no training. Meanwhile, we have Gordon Godfrey interviewing the Reach Ambassador and turns a new leaf when he called him out on his lies. Plus, Nightwing and Miss Martian were on their way to rescue the team as well. As Arsenal frees Mongul to fight Black Beetle, everyone is free yet there was friction among the group when Bumblebee called Arsenal out on endangering the team. Nightwing makes a decision, one that was hypocritical, to take Arsenal off the group and the Runaways decided not to join them. So, this was the best thing for Arsenal, who figured out what Lex Luthor’s real plan – use the Runaways to rescue the team while sending Deathstroke to steal the key in secret. Luthor got what he wanted, but the Runaways declare themselves independent along with Arsenal.

I’m liking Arsenal and the Runaways more so than the team itself as they become more relatable. Down the line, I can see them continuing to get back at the reach and deal with Blue Beetle since Tye Longshadow was friends with Jaime Reyes. When we see the Boom Tube Key, there is something going on with the Light as I wonder if they’re in cahoots with Darkseid. I hope we can see them again. If there is to be a third season or a direct-to-DVD movie, it should be called Young Justice: Runaways featuring Arsenal and the runaways. Another great episode that I’m enjoying a lot more.
