Transformers Animated – Five Servos of Doom review

Another Transformers: Animated episode has been posted in advance and that’s the Five Servos of Doom. This episode gave us several things – the long-awaited flashback of Prowl of how he came to be a ninjabot and the team-up of Prowl and Jazz, who is also a ninjabot and Elite Guard member.

The story of this episode has Sentinel Prime booking Megatron’s group of Decepticons with success sounded too good to be true and neither Optimus Prime and Prowl are buying it. Prowl investigates how Sentinel Prime was able to book the Decepticons and he finds out with twist involving bounty hunter, Lockdown.

The flashbacks gave us Yokitron, who is voiced by Star Trek’s George Takei, and Warpath who is portrayed as a grim loner instead of the whacky one from G1. There is foreshadowing for Prowl later on in the season.

I enjoyed the team-up of Prowl and Jazz since last season and it would’ve been cool if Jazz was added to the cast because he’d definitely fit in Optimus Prime’s group more so than the Elite Guard. Jetfire and Jetstorm have been used very well. I think Jazz, Jetfire, and Jetstorm should be part of Optimus Prime’s group.

The rivalry between Optimus Prime and Sentinel Prime still continues from last season and it’s a good thing that Optimus gave the credit to Prowl instead of Sentinel because of how he did all this. It looks like nothing will ever be resolved between Optimus and Sentinel unless Sentinel encounters Black Arachnia that could change everything for him.

Cliffjumper also made an appearance telling the Autobots that Ultra Magnus has been attacked by Shockwave and is recovering. Megatron’s Decepticons have all been booked, so this should open room for more Decepticons like Strika’s group and the Predacons. This was a much better episode than both Three’s A Crowd and Where Is Thy Sting. Notice that Ratchet, Bumblebee, and Bulkhead did not appear in the episode. Sari still has not been since TransWarped. It looks like they’re using her sparingly.

Watching these episodes online in advance is better than getting up at 8am.
